Saturdays

11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Games including table tennis, ball hockey, giant checkers, giant chess and skating when the rink is open. Free skate rentals on a first-come-first-served basis.

 Sundays

1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Swing 'n' Skate

Swing 'n' Skate 2016 banner

Swing 'n' Skate features live swing, jazz and big band music in the City Room at City Hall from 1:00 - 4:00 pm on most Sundays throughout January and February. Each week local bands will be joined by the Sugar Swing Dance Club to help put the boogie-woogie in your step! If you’d rather be outdoors, the music will be broadcast directly outside for the enjoyment of ice skaters on City Hall Plaza. Free skate rentals will be available on a first come, first serve basis.

The Edmonton Arts Council (EAC), in partnership with the City of Edmonton, programs activity and event Happenings in Sir Winston Churchill Square for casual and day-to-day public use between major festivals and civic events.

Since August 2011, EAC Churchill Square Happenings programmer, Bob Rasko, has produced a diverse schedule of offerings open to the public including: Sunday Swing 'n Skate, Game On street hockey, Rush Hour Wednesdays, Live at Lunch, and Zumba on the Square. 

Getting there: Sir Winston Churchill Square is easily accessible by bus and LRT.  Visit www.takeETS.com for route and schedule information.
