Free winter skating
On weekdays in January and February, from 12:00-8:00 pm, and weekends from 12:00-4:00 pm, the Edmonton Arts Council and City of Edmonton will provide free skate rentals on a first come, first serve basis for patrons of the City Hall rink (starting January 3 - dependent on weather and ice conditions).
Swing'n Skate 2017!
January 8 to February 26, 2017 from 1pm-4pm
Swing 'n Skate will feature live swing, jazz and big band music in the City Room at City Hall from 1:00 - 4:00 pm on Sundays throughout January and February. This season’s acts, including Trocadero Orchestra, Dave Babcock and his Jump Orchestra, and the Gateway Big Band, are sure to get you jiving – with the friendly help of the Sugar Swing Dance Club! If you’d rather be outdoors, the music will be broadcast directly outside for the enjoyment of ice skaters on City Hall Plaza. Free skate rentals will be available on a first come, first serve basis (dependent on weather and ice conditions).

The Edmonton Arts Council (EAC), in partnership with the City of Edmonton, programs activity and event Happenings in Sir Winston Churchill Square for casual and day-to-day public use between major festivals and civic events.
Since August 2011, EAC Churchill Square Happenings programmer, Bob Rasko, has produced a diverse schedule of offerings open to the public including: Sunday Swing 'n Skate, Live at Lunch, CypherWild and Zumba on the Square.
