welcome - Edmonton Arts Council

Happenings on Sir Winston Churchill Square

Festivals are back on Churchill Square this summer! Take in local and international talent at The Works Art & Design Festival and Edmonton International Street Performers Festival; pair your lunch with the Edmonton International Jazz Festival; and discover local eats at Taste of Edmonton.

Unfortunately, Happenings programming will be put on hold temporarily due to construction on Centennial Plaza along with the busy festival schedule in Churchill Square. Many have expressed disappointment and we apologize for this disruption. We are thrilled the programs have taken on a life of their own and are vital to the communities they serve. Please consider attending the many additional events and festivities planned for Churchill Square this summer, and check back for updates about future Happenings programming!

Check out the City of Edmonton's events calendar to see what's on the Square!

The Square is easily accessible via public transportation. A mud-free area for children to play, various food vendors, and nearby public washrooms makes Sir Winston Churchill Square an ideal venue for a family outing.

There have been many questions surrounding the return of Lightsaber Training. Unfortunately, this program will not be returning in 2017. We are so grateful for all the young Padawans who came out to hone their skills these past four years. Janine Waddell Hodder has been an amazing instructor and we will miss working with her on the Square. May the force be with you always.

The Edmonton Arts Council (EAC), in partnership with the City of Edmonton, programs activity and event Happenings in Sir Winston Churchill Square for casual and day-to-day public use between major festivals and civic events.

Since August 2011, EAC Churchill Square Happenings programmer, Bob Rasko, has produced a diverse schedule of offerings open to the public including: Sunday Swing 'n Skate, Live at Lunch, CypherWild and Zumba on the Square.

Getting there: Sir Winston Churchill Square is easily accessible by bus and LRT.  Visit www.takeETS.com for route and schedule information.
