City of Edmonton has issued a call to artists for the Traffic Barrier Mural Project. City will commission an Edmonton artist to paint a mural on 80 concrete jersey barriers that will be installed as part of patios to be located on a portion of the roadway. Apply by April 4.
The Edmonton Folk Music Festival has issued a call for artists for the Seacan Mural Project. The festival is commissioning three Edmonton and area artists to paint a mural on the side of three storage seacans that live on the festival site during set up, during the festival, and during tear down. Apply by April 14.
The Nina Haggerty Centre for the Arts is accepting applications for the 2023 RBC Emerging Artists Program. Successful candidates will take part in a 14-week program (6 hours a week) from May to August that includes working alongside the Nina Collective of artists with disabilities, facilitating and participating in workshops, and exhibiting their work in the Stollery Gallery and City Centre. Apply by April 14.
Covenant Health, Covenant Foundation, and the Friends of University Hospitals invite Alberta artists to submit artworks for consideration for the Misericordia Community Hospital art collection and permanent placement in public and patient areas of the new Misericordia emergency department (ED). The selected artworks will be placed within the corridors, waiting rooms, and units throughout the new ED for the benefit of patients, families, and staff. Submit by April 14.
McMullen Gallery seeks proposals from practicing artists, curators, and organizations for its 2024-2025 exhibition season. They are looking for exhibitions that engage their diverse community in ideas of hope, perceptions of wellness, stories of healing in an ailing world, or fostering environmental, emotional, and social sustainability. Submit by April 14.
Strathcona County seeks artwork submissions for the Annual Art Acquisition program. Artists who live in Strathcona County and those with a strong connection to the area are encouraged to participate. Submit by April 17.
Harcourt House Artist Run Centre is seeking submissions of challenging, contemporary work from local, national, or international established artists for exhibitions in their Main Gallery for the 2024-25 exhibition seasons. Submit by June 2.

Applications are open for the City of Edmonton's Downtown Music Venues Grant. This program is designed to assist live music venues located in or adjacent to downtown with funding to support operations (grants of up to $5000). Applications will be accepted until all funding is allocated.
APIRG is accepting applications for Event/Project/Research Funding. Grants are available up to a maximum of $2000. Some examples of past grant recipients include speaker or workshop series, publishable academic or journalistic research, and community events. Click here for more information.
Applications are being accepted for the Live Music Workers Fund through Unison. The temporary fund to supports independent and self-employed live music workers with a one-time payment of $2500. Click here to apply.
The AFC is now accepting applications for the Reactivation Program. This program provides direct financial assistance for independent, self-employed, and gig workers in the live performance sector, serving theatre, comedy, and circus performers, as well as technicians, production, and other live performance professionals who need financial support to maintain or regain work in the sector. Applications to the Edmonton Downtown Business Association Festivals & Events Grant are now open for the year of 2023. The Festivals & Events Grant encourages applications for one day events as well as large festivals operated by not-for-profit arts organizations, recognized arts societies/collectives, community groups, and small businesses. The next deadline is May 1 (for events planned July 1 to August 31, 2023.)
Theatre Alberta's Michelle Dias Community Service Award is seeking applications. The Michelle Dias Community Service Award is offered each year in memory of Ms. Dias, a respected colleague and true champion of Canadian theatre, who passed away in 2011. For 2023 it will be awarded to three individuals who each demonstrate a selfless commitment to the Alberta theatre community and to sharing their knowledge with colleagues and peers. Apply by March 24.
The Edmonton Screen Industries Office is now accepting applications for the Market Access Grant (up to $3,500 to allow companies and individuals to attend markets to advance a project) and the Early Stage Project Grant (up to 75% of costs (up to $3,500) to help creators imagine and develop new projects). The deadline for both grants is March 27.
Alberta Playwrights' Network is now accepting entries into the 58th Annual Alberta Playwriting Competition, presented in association with Theatre Alberta. The competition recognizes the most outstanding un-produced Alberta play with the Sharon Pollock Award ($5000 cash prize). Submit by March 31.
The Edmonton Jewish Film Festival now accepting applications for the Earl Parker Award for Jewish Film for 2023. Eligible projects must be related to Jewish identity, themes, or culture, and may be fictional or non-fictional. This award of $1,500 will be presented at the EJFF opening night, May 7, 2023. Apply by April 3.
The Edmonton Community Foundation is now accepting applications for their Community Grants. ECF's Community Grants program provides funding to help with a variety of organizational needs; this can include renovations, equipment purchases, program support, and more. Stage 1 application closes April 14.
Applications are open for the City of Edmonton's 2023 Festivals & Events Micro Grant Program. This grant program supports smaller, outdoor community (Niche) festivals and events that showcase local talent, celebrate local histories and cultures, and add vibrancy to our city throughout the year. Apply by April 30.
