Downtown Playdates to animate downtown parks

June 4, 2026

Turn Up Downtown” is the City of Edmonton’s new campaign encouraging Edmontonians to crank up the fun and rediscover downtown in a whole new way. From June through December, the core will be abuzz with an astounding 1,000+ events and experiences designed to spark connection, support local businesses, and dial up the vibrancy. As part of this initiative, the Edmonton Arts Council is excited to activate parks throughout the heart of the city with Downtown Playdates.

Says EAC CEO Renée Williams, In addition to being a lot of fun; this new initiative brings us together. These free, family-friendly activations create a sense of downtown vibrancy and community safety, and they support artists and local businesses.”

Through Downtown Playdates the EAC is welcoming people of all ages and walks of life to experience a variety of fun and accessible activations in downtown park spaces, with entertainment at Alex Decoteau Park, Beaver Hill House Park, Centennial Plaza, Michael Phair Park, and O‑day’min Parks. Activities will include yard games, live music, DJ sets, fitness classes, workshops, performances, and much more!
