Individuals & Collectives Fall 2025 results: Stream 3

Stream 3 of the Individuals & Collectives program supports artist driven major projects ready for implementation, production and/or presentation. This can include support for creation, subsistence, travel and/or mentorship. Projects may be individual or collective, and grants are available up to $25,000 based on projected expenses, including artist subsistence.
For the fall 2025 program cycle, 50 applications were recommended for Stream 3, for a total investment of $1,036,673.

Aladean Kheroufi will record a full-length album for release in March 2026, titled “What I Think About When I Think About You”.
Ameley will produce an Afro-Caribbean Storytelling/folklore performance curated for children and young adults that focuses on reviving and introducing the rich tradition and aesthetics of African total theatre traditions/elements.
Amanda Penner will create a multidisciplinary six-song EP and visual arts project about the experience of grief, loss, disability, and queerness in the aftermath of a life-altering car accident.
Andrew Foley will produce 100 sequential art pages of the graphic novel Who Is Nick Royale?
Anna Kuelken, along with collective members Ariana Brophy, David Baron, and Justin Brunelle, will produce a series of in-depth interviews with 2SLGBTQ+ seniors, preserving their oral history of struggles for equality, healthcare, and safety, while underscoring the urgent need for inclusive senior housing in Edmonton today.
Audrey French will produce GospelFest, Edmonton’s only gospel music festival that champions Black voices, stories, and history through a show-stopping musical showcase, flavourful food fair, and a joyful celebration of community.
Billie Zizi will write, compose and record new material for an upcoming EP. She will also travel to collaborate with other Canadian artists – Kaia Kater, Boy Golden, Lucette and Druiz.
Calla Wright will rework and stage a production of Binding based on feedback from a previous workshop. They will also be incorporating greater accessibility measures in hopes of increasing the diversity of potential audiences.
Candace Makowichuk will create a visual art project exploring the objects, memories, and legacies we leave behind after death using historical photographic processes such as wet-plate and gumoil.
Charlee Queen XO, alongside collective member Timiro Mohamed, will expand and strengthen the Black Femme Poetry Collective, co-creating poetry, music, movement, and design, developing professional skills and presenting new multidisciplinary work at Jabulani, SkirtsAfire, and beyond.
Crystal Eyo and her band Mercy Funk will produce a live-off-the-floor video album, to be recorded at the Nancy Power Theatre (mainstage) at The Roxy Theatre in Edmonton.
D’orjay will undertake the pre-production, rehearsal and concert presentation of the new musical, Postal Prophets, to be presented at RISER Festival May 2026.
Darren Jordan will implement 5 Artists 1 Love’s 20th Anniversary musical showcase and art exhibition, spotlighting over 100 creatives.
David Jay the Spaniard will produce Esperanza 2026, a biennial music event in Edmonton that unites world-class Spanish flamenco artists with local ensembles, enriching the city’s cultural landscape through international collaboration, professional growth, and distinctive live performance experiences.
Dom and his bandmates in Melafrique will curate a live recording of their upcoming EP, reimagined before an audience, capturing the energy, spontaneity, and diversity of Melafrique, their audience, and guest performers.
Dustin Chok will create a short documentary mapping how house, jazz, and freestyle move between Edmonton and Toronto through Raoul “Jiggyman” Wilke’s process, mentorships, and a new Holla Jazz work honouring John Coltrane.
Elena Eli Belyea will première her play “Willows” in March 2027 through her independent theatre company Tiny Bear Jaws in partnership with Azimuth Theatre and with support from the Citadel Theatre.
Emily Jan will develop the new series Gods of the Future World and re-create the Kali Yuga I installation with site-specific elements, both to show in the AGA exhibition TRIANGULATE, curated by Lindsey Sharman.
Erina Harris will edit a major publishable manuscript of essays and poems that explores key contemporary social justice issues through meditations on historic dolls of Turtle Island during a one-year period.
Farhad Khosravi will travel to Vancouver and Montréal to showcase his new album titled “The Leopards”, set to release in 2026.
Gomathi Boorada will produce Indra’s Gift Too, written by Chris Dodd. The production will be presented using Balinese shadow puppetry, Indian classical dance and drama.
Ian Leung and collective member David Kennedy will produce a site-specific production of The Designated Mourner by Wallace Shawn, in Studio B at the Film and Video Arts Society (FAVA) in the Orange Hub.
Jesse Thomas and collective member Will Bauer will create an interactive, multimedia installation about Edmonton’s river valley that incorporates sculptural, painting, lighting, and video elements. They will also add the dimension of time to painting, and make art react to human presence.
Justin Kueber will produce The Last Set, a bold 15-minute satirical comedy shot entirely in one uninterrupted take, blending cinema and Edmonton’s EDM culture to explore ego, power, and spectacle.
Juwayriya will create 10 new surrealist oil paintings to expand her visual exploration of African Canadian art histories, culminating in a solo exhibition of approximately 20 works.
Jyn-Ting Ying will create an experimental electro-acoustic EP setting poetry by Kathryn Gwun-Yeen Lennon to musical accompaniment built from the found sounds of Chinatown.
Kelly Wolfert will produce JOEY, a feature-length documentary about the life, impact, and legacy beloved Edmontonian Joey Moss had on his family, friends, and especially those in the diverse abilities community.
Kim McCollum will produce a new body of paintings to be presented in a solo exhibition at the Art Gallery of St. Albert in Fall 2026.
Kreesha Turner will create an eight-to-ten song Neo-Jazz album blending jazz harmony, soul, and modern production. Rooted in Edmonton, the album reclaims Kreesha’s voice through storytelling, live instrumentation, and emotional depth after years away.
Kristi Hansen will present the world première of Phantom Limbs at Azimuth Theatre’s EXPANSE Festival in March, 2026. The production is scheduled for four public performances between March 21 – 29, 2026 at the Moment Discovery studio space.
Liam Monaghan will develop his theatrical adaptation of the lives of Arthur Erickson and Francisco Kripacz through archival research, design dramaturgy, and a workshop/work-in-progress presentation at RISER Festival 2026.
Mallory Chipman will complete the mixing, mastering, artwork creation, and promotion of her forthcoming album Court of Hope.
Marynia Fekecz-Mangan presented COME HELL OR HIGH WATER, a performance for five Edmonton-based dancers, at Fluid Fest in October 2025.
Martin Kerr toured his new album, Overdue for a Revolution, in 20 cities across Canada and Europe (Oct – Dec 2025).
Matthew Stepanic will edit and design six chapbooks from local authors through Agatha Press in 2026.
Mehdi Rezania will host a series of 14 biweekly gatherings from February to August, presenting music and poetry in a semi-intimate, intercultural format.
Mel Bahniuk and fellow members of The Redheads & Queers Collective (Brett Dahl, Mhairi Berg, Jacquelin Walters, Michael Watt, Logan Stefura, and Andraya Diogo) will produce The Drowning Girls, a theatrical production about intimate partner violence that amplifies marginalized voices, sparks community dialogue, and uses art to inspire social change.
Myles Bartel and collective members Will Scott, Kate Staskho, and Myle Bartel will produce and present Re-Zoning, a 25 – 30-minute work by experimental band Pigeon Breeders and dancer Kate Stashko, where movement functions as conducting, shaping live sound through shifting spatial zones and improvisational dialogue.
Nikki Hulowski (Nikki Rae Hallow) and collective members Ashlee Pearce, Anna Primiani, Kristen Welker, and Jennie Emms will host The Actor’s Toolbox, a comprehensive and innovative acting course, supported by ACTRA Alberta, aimed at fostering continuous learning and development in the film acting community.
Oksana Movchan will create a body of work for two confirmed exhibitions, working in the styles of abstract storytelling and abstract improvisation.
Rubim de Toledo will embark on a Japan tour building on his 2024 successes through concerts, artist talks, collaborative compositions, and a university workshop, advancing cultural exchange while amplifying Edmonton’s music community on the international stage.
Ryan Blair, alongside ReadyGo Theatre collective members Erik Richards and Jezec Sanders, will present Where Foxes Lie, a one-man, tech-dependent, horror show exploring toxic masculinity, guilt, punishment, and the political and cultural landscapes of small-town Albertan communities through the lens of urban legend.
Sebastian Ley will host a workshop and reading for a new script, MicroNation, following a small group’s misguided attempt to declare sovereignty from Canada and found their own miniature backyard country.
Sue Goberdhan, along with collective members Matthew Graham and Robyn Slack, will work on Natural/Critical, a new musical blending story, song, and tabletop game mechanics. The Stream 3 grant will fund writing and dramaturgy, and the development of the script, score, and theatrical game mechanics.
Taghreed Saadeh will produce, film, and edit a six part documentary series that explores the diverse stories of Sunni, Shiite, Jewish, Christian, Druze, and Ismaili Arab communities.
The Fab Tiff Hall will write, produce, and perform in three variety shows featuring her original music at Rapid Fire Theatre. Each show features a local burlesque/drag performer and a musical guest.
Tommy Barker will produce the Community Music Festival to celebrate Edmonton’s open mic venues and musicians through multiple simultaneous stages, connecting neighbourhoods while providing paid performance opportunities for local talent.
Tony Flanagan, alongside collective members Anthony Goertz and Tomáš Andel, will showcase the diversity and quality of Edmonton’s music scene by capturing and disseminating live, intimate performances by exceptional Edmonton artists.
Tristan Talalee and collective member Alexandra Paulhus will produce a short film titled Doe Hunter. In the film the hunter becomes the hunted, highlighting missing and murdered Indigenous women and Indigenous folklore.
Tyler Enfield will print and frame ten images of land art, created primarily in Edmonton’s Mill Creek ravine, that have been accepted for exhibition at Gallery@501.
