National Indigenous History Month 2025
May 28, 2025
June is National Indigenous History Month, a time to recognize the rich history, heritage, resilience and diversity of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. As we honour this important month and National Indigenous Peoples Day on June 21, the EAC encourages you to gain a deeper understanding of First Nations, Inuit and Métis experiences through their own voices.
Take a stroll through the new Reciprocity Garden | ᐋᐧᐦᑰᐦᑐᐃᐧᐣ (wâhkôhtowin) at the Art Gallery of Alberta, visit the audio-visual exhibit UNCEDED: Voice of the Land, a powerful experience of Indigenous architecture, creation, joy, and resilience, browse and support the vendors at Ociciwan’s very first art market, immerse yourself in Métis singer-songwriter Brandon Baker’s psychedelic, guitar-driven music at CAFÉ bicyclette’s Patio Concert Series, come together in celebration of Indigenous Culture at Bent Arrow’s Indigenous Peoples Day event, and so much more.
Below, we’ve highlighted just a few of the incredible Indigenous arts events featured on our community events calendar. Are we missing an event on our calendar? Send us your event details at eacweekly@edmontonarts.ca.
