Abstraction Now – Harcourt’s Practitioners of Abstract Art + Guest Artists

Celebrating 120 Years of Abstract Art: 1906 – 2026, Abstraction Now brings together Harcourt’s abstract painting practitioners and guest artists in a curated exhibition focused on the continued vitality and evolution of abstraction in Western Canada. The exhibition highlights diverse approaches including colour-field painting, lyrical abstraction, minimalist practices, gestural abstraction, and geometric forms, featuring artists such as Scott Cumberland, Darren Kooyman, Carla Lam, Sheila Luck, Mitchel Smith, Wiz Wensel, Catherine Burgess, Peter Hide, and Seka Owen. It also reflects on the historical legacy of abstraction in Edmonton and its ongoing resurgence in contemporary practice.
