Tri is a colourful optical Illusion of a giant steel ball suspended in the center of a triangle. The central visual of this is that of the impossible tri-bar or triangle. The shape seems improbable because the spatial indicators at each corner do not match up in reality. However, the artists have attempted to recreate the shape with a little help from perspective and optical illusion.

At the very basic level, the tri-bar is one of the simplest of impossible objects, yet it makes a very powerful optical impact. The true nature of this object can only be seen in several views which would be configured to correspond to several moments while the viewer is descending the escalator, the object will reveal itself to be merely a carefully planned illusion. On a metaphoric level the shape represents the value of the University education experience.

Upon entry to a post secondary education, a person may have a very narrow view of the world in which things do not seem to make sense. As we progress further, the bigger picture begins to reveal itself and we begin to figure out that some of the ideas we once thought to be impossible are now plausible. The central sphere represents the focal point of our understanding and a common point where all university students can arrive – it is the center of interaction and a key to unlocking problems and ideas.
