Meet the artists
Naked and Frayed
Murriel Mapa is a fibre artist based in Edmonton. She, like many others, was looking for a way to pass the time during the quarantine of 2020, and with no real desire to make sourdough, she found embroidery. Murriel has developed her own unique style of embroidery that sets her apart from the crowd – not your grandma’s needlepoint, but more like your cool aunt’s!
Murriel is the creator behind “Embroidmonton,” a series inspired by iconic Edmonton landmarks like the Princess Theatre and Muttart Conservatory. Through this series, Murriel gets to share her love of her hometown and all its quirks.

Roberta Memogana
Roberta Memogana is an artist from Ulukhaktok, Northwest Territories. She creates paintings, sculptures and textile works related to her culture and the Inuit way of life. She paints with oil-based inks, using both stencils and free-hand painting techniques. Her three-dimensional works also incorporate furs, hides and beaded elements.
Snake Bite Creations
Based in Edmonton, Alberta, Snake Bite Creations was founded by fashion graduate Natalie Ley in 2020.
Snake Bite Creations features hand printed lino cut designs as well as pen drawings that are largely nature inspired. The artist loves that printmaking is an art form that has not been changed by digital technology; each piece is hand carved and printed, a process that feels tactile from beginning to completion. Natalie’s mother’s adoration of Alberta birds has also influenced recent pieces, depicting local birds that have been observed either in the city or the nearby countryside.

Mayana & Friends
Proudly Filipino-Canadian, Mayana & Friends specializes in plushies and characters with disabilities and differences, inviting children to embrace inclusion and recognize that differences are normal. Through toys, storytelling, and creative engagement, their mission is to foster understanding, empathy, and confidence in kids of all abilities.
After founder Anna’s child was born with a congenital upper limb difference, she embarked on a journey to challenge norms. Noticing a need for more diverse representation in toys, Anna teamed up with her brother Allan and together they began designing plushies inspired by their own childhood — imagine bold, expressive characters with a touch of classic Cartoon Network energy.

SunDay Ceramics
SunDay Ceramics was established by Paige Harris, a Canadian artist based in Edmonton, Alberta. Inspired by the innocence and beauty of nature, Paige creates wheel-thrown and hand-built ceramic pieces featuring caterpillars, mushrooms, flowers, hearts, and colorful squiggles, using a variety of clays, handmade slips, and glazes.
SunDay Ceramics pieces are produced in small batches at Planted Earth Studios, a studio Paige co-owns where she also hosts workshops.
