Expressions of Métis Religion and Spirituality

Presented for Alberta Culture Days 2026, Expressions of Métis Religion and Spirituality brings together the work of six Métis artists from the Métis Nation in Alberta: Arlo Henry, Christopher Savard, Jocelyn Lamothe, Krista Leddy, Kirsten Lindquist, and Maria Nelson. The exhibition explores the diverse identities and experiences of Métis religion and spirituality, examining how historical legacies and contemporary influences shape relationships to traditional Indigenous spirituality, cultural identity, resilience, and community well-being.

Developed through conversations with artists and their connections to community, Elders, researchers, and religious leaders, the exhibition reflects varied expressions of Métis spirituality and religion within the Métis Homeland. The artists explore personal relationships to spirituality and the ways these connections have been inherited, learned, reshaped, or rediscovered through unique cultural traditions.

The exhibition features a range of artistic disciplines, including visual art, sculpture, and projection art.
