HORSEPLAY by Kole Durnford

@ Gateway Theatre // 7:30 pm

Ticketed Event

May 14 - Jun 1 2025

WWPT invites you to the world première of HORSEPLAY by Kole Durnford. A story about brotherhood, love, and going for broke, but at what cost? Hilariously self-referential, HORSEPLAY makes bold choices in telling the story of Horse and Jacques — a horse and a jockey, best friends, and dreamers — as they navigate the most important race of their lives, against the full gallop of fate’s curveballs. It’s a fact that human heartbeats will often change to match a horse’s, so when tragedy strikes, will their bond survive or spiral? Plus, who doesn’t love hearing from a talking horse?

Featuring a nationally acclaimed team, Alexander Ariate delivers a touching portrayal of Horse, Lee Boyes uses his 25-year improv career to step into the role of Jacques, while award-winners Amber Borotsik and Jason Kodie lend their stunning movement and musical ingenuity to ignite a truly whimsical tale, riding the line between reality and imagination.
