About
Join us for the Indigenous Spotlight Series: Commonwealth Walkway Experience — Explore with our Storytellers
Discover the rich Indigenous stories woven into Edmonton’s landscape as we journey along the Commonwealth Walkway together. This evening experience invites participants to explore the kisiskâciwanisîpiy (North Saskatchewan River) pathway while connecting with Indigenous Elders, knowledge keepers, and storytellers and their stories.
Starting at ᐄᓃᐤ (ÎNÎW) River Lot 11 Indigenous Art Park, walk portions of the Walkway that winds through the North Saskatchewan River Valley. Along the way, you can listen to 50 new Indigenous stories that were added to the platform in Spring 2024, deepening our collective understanding of Treaty 6 territory and the traditional lands of the Nehiyaw-Pwats, Siksikaitsitapi, Dene, Inuit, and Métis peoples.
This is more than a walk — it’s an opportunity to forge stronger relationships with the land and honour the voices of those who have called this place home since time immemorial.
When: August 13th, 5:00 PM — 8:00 PM — Guided Storyteller Walks 6 pm and 7pm
