Art Gallery of Alberta and SNAP Present Listen to the Land–A Print-Based Exploration of Identity, Ecology, and Empathy

Exhibition Dates: June 21 – October 62025

Location: Art Gallery of Alberta, 2 Sir Winston Churchill Square NW, Edmonton, AB

The Art Gallery of Alberta (AGA), in collaboration with the Society of Northern Alberta Print-Artists (SNAP), is proud to announce the upcoming exhibition Listen to the Land, opening on June 21, 2025. Curated by Caitlin Bodewitz, this exhibition features three print-based artists selected by SNAP, who delve into the intricate relationships between personal histories and the broader complexities of self and our surroundings.

Listen to the Land invites visitors to engage in the active art of listening, promoting empathy and cultivating connections. The exhibition explores themes of worry and wellbeing, crisis and care, and the interrelation of identity, the land, and the body. As individuals and community members, we are intrinsically linked to the natural world and bear responsibility for the health of our environment. This exhibition encourages a gentle attentiveness to the messages the land conveys.

This partnership between AGA and SNAP underscores a shared commitment to fostering artistic dialogue and community engagement through printmaking. The collaboration highlights the power of art to reflect and influence our understanding of the world around us.

Coinciding with National Indigenous Peoples Day, Listen to the Land features the work of Indigenous artists Jonathan S. Green and Laura Grier. The AGA is open on June 21 from 12 to 5 pm with admission by donation.
