Opening Reception: Shoot For Peace Edmonton | The Essence of Being

Join us for the Shoot for Peace Edmonton 2025 Cohort Photography Exhibition opening on August 23^rd at 6:30 PM. This exhibition showcases the incredible work the SFP cohort has produced throughout the year. Shoot for Peace is a non-profit, youth-led community organization in Edmonton with the mission of community healing through art.

Their theme, ​“The Essence of Being,” explores the core of your identity and the unseen layers that shape your life, through experiences such as joy, grief, faith, culture, resistance, or self-discovery. This exhibit explores the raw truth of what makes us human.

15 youth artists bring their own lived experiences, identities, and perspectives to this theme. Through their unique lens, they explore what it means to exist, belong, and become, reminding us that the essence of being is never one-size-fits-all.

This exhibit is a tapestry of interpretations, personal, political, spiritual, and emotional — proving that the question may be the same, but the answers are beautifully diverse.
