About
Visual artists Stephen Sereda and Will Truchon display their more musical sides as headlining act SWILL at the Collins Studio Gallery (11741−94 Street), Friday, Oct. 24 at 8 p.m. Admission for this all-ages event is pay-what-you-can.
SWILL, a mashup of the duo’s first names, has been playing for roughly seven years, having appeared at The Fringe and Works festivals as well as the Edmonton chapter of the annual worldwide Art’s Birthday celebrations. They also have a digital release available on Belgian label God Hates God.
As a visual artist, Sereda had some of his works exhibited recently at the Art Gallery of Alberta, and at Collins Studio Gallery. He also had his work included in Weirdo Comics, an anthology compiled by underground artist Robert Crumb during the ‘80s and ‘90s. Truchon, a former artistic director of The Works Art and Design Festival, has also had his art featured at the AGA and the Collins as well as several other local galleries. He currently teaches art and works in several mediums.
Besides performing in SWILL that night, both Sereda and Truchon will perform solo sets, the latter billed as 2F Argon. Additional acts will include avant-garde duo Pelican Hat, soundscape artist James Parrott, and a tribute to the late experimental outfit Motonogo.
