Join New Moon Folk Club for their presentation of The Hello Darlins on Friday, September 19 at St. Basil’s Cultural Centre, 10819 71 Avenue NW. Doors open at 6:30PM, performance begins at 7:30PM.
When The Hello Darlins hit any stage, they immediately make it their own. With Candace Lacina front and center, the band’s impeccable harmonies on tracks like What Is A Broken Heart For and Lay Down Low from their latest EP, In The Sundust, are undeniably captivating. With millions of streams and three Canadian Folk Music Awards nominations, don’t miss the chance to experience their unique blend of country, gospel, and blues. As individuals, the members of The Hello Darlins are known for backing some of the biggest names in Canadian music, and as a band, they have paid their dues playing live in other configurations. Seeing the band now as a singular unit, revelling in the songwriting, harmonies, musical firepower and unique sound they have created together, makes for a joyful and memorable event that every music fan needs to experience. The Hello Darlins deliver a show at a refined level that can only be achieved by lives dedicated to a professional craft.
First Set: Jesse Bird
Jessie Bird, from Camrose, Alberta, blends country and folk into heartfelt, emotional performances. A storyteller at heart, she has graced stages like the Edmonton Folk Fest in 2024, where she performed with the School of Song. A former Canadian Idol Season 4 Top 100 contestant, she’s a local favorite at Camrose’s Bailey Theatre. Jessie has opened for acts like Keith and Renee and shared stages with artists such as Ken Stead and Lily Monoghan. Her powerful vocals and vulnerability, compared to Joni Mitchell and Emmylou Harris, leave audiences deeply moved. She’s currently working on her debut EP, set for Spring 2025
