The mural’s bold shapes and vibrant colours offer a welcoming glimpse into the personality of the Castle Downs neighbourhood. The artwork’s cheerful colours visually link it with the playground and echo its sense of play, while also representing the activities that take place around Castle Downs Park. The artist wanted the viewer to feel ​“as if you were looking through windows into the personality of the neighbourhood.”

For the artist, artmaking keeps their childhood sense of wonder and play alive. ​“The activities taking place within the artwork, and the patterns throughout the mural are things I had grown up with as a child, and it’s incredible to have had the opportunity to share that with future generations.”
