Doors captures a row of weathered door frames resting down a back alley. As part of a series documenting the back alleys of businesses along Edmonton’s Whyte Avenue, the photo captures a unique point of view of an urban dweller exploring the less desirable areas of the city. In the words of the artist, by using photography, I take snapshots to reveal themes and memories of everyday life. As intentionally artificial constructions, my photographs convey experiences of the truth but they also communicate a single view. The subjects and moments I choose to photograph are very intuitive and are made solely by hard work, patience, and quiet observations.”

The image is a hand coloured silver gelatin photograph. The methodology and approach to the photo portray a contemporary vision of the city, while celebrating the roots of photography in its purest form.
