Recycles consists of five stationary bicycles topped with poles and whirligigs, which are operated by pedaling. The bikes are constructed out of found objects such as bedsteads, gates, balcony railings and fabricated iron and steel components as well as actual bike parts.

Artists Beauchamp and Malin envisioned an interactive, kinetic sculpture celebrating a lively and festive downtown. Twirling whirligigs, visible from at least a block away, are an invitation for children and families to hurry to the park and play in the natural, outdoor setting. The circular grouping will encourage inclusion, interaction and cooperation. Through healthy physical play, kids together will create a colourful mini-festival and illustrate one of Edmonton’s greatest assets- the Festival City spirit. “
