Join Concordia University of Edmonton and the Council of India Societies of Edmonton for their presentation of A Garland of Ragas on Sunday, April 21 at the Edmonton Convention Centre, 9797 Jasper Avenue NW. Pre-Concert Performances at 4:00PM, Main Performance begins at 5:00PM.
A FAMILY CONCERT CELEBRATING THE SOUTH ASIAN COMMUNITY IN EDMONTON
The Concordia Symphony Orchestra joins Vancouver-based sitarist and composer Mohamed Assani in his work Scheherazade for sitar and orchestra.
The ensemble once again unites Eastern and Western music traditions, this time in an exploration of the five elements of Nature: Earth, Water, Fire, Air & Space.
Assani will perform in a sitar & tabla duo followed by traditional Indian dance and singing. Orchestral works include Ravel’s Alborada del gracioso, Stravinsky’s “Infernal Dance of King Kashchey” from The Firebird Suite, Smetana’s Moldau, and Márquez’s Danzón No. 2.
Everyone is welcome. Come join the party!
Food and drinks will be available for purchase at the venue.

Physical tickets will be provided for this event. Please ensure the mailing address on file is correct.
The cut-off for mailed tickets will be 11:59PM, April 10! All orders placed on April 11 or later will be able to collect their tickets at the performance.
Paid parking available in the surrounding area. LRT (Churchill Station) and ETS routes 2, 5, 111 and 131 are within a 5‑minute walk.
