Edmonton Short Film Festival Red Carpet Gala

When: Saturday, October 18 from 6:00 — 10:00PM

Where: Landmark Cinemas 9 Edmonton City Centre (10200 102 Ave NW)

A new short film created by emerging filmmakers from underrepresented communities will make its debit as this year’s Edmonton Short Film Festival (ESFF). 

Chance Encounter follows two strangers whose unexpected meeting changes the course of their lives. The film was developed, shot, and completed by first-time and early-career filmmakers from across Alberta, guided by local industry mentors. Through hands-on experience in writing, directing, cinematography, lighting, and editing, participants gained practical training while helping to advance ESFF’s mission to build a more inclusive and representative film industry.

Audiences attending the Red Carpet Gala will be among the first to see Chance Encounter on the big screen, meet the filmmakers, and celebrate the growing diversity shaping Alberta’s film community.

Edmonton Short Film Festival Long Shorts International Program

When: Sunday, October 19 with doors at 12:30PM and films starting at 1:00PM

Where: Landmark Cinemas 9 Edmonton City Centre (10200 102 Ave NW)

The festival expands its lens with the Long Shorts International Program on October 19, a curated lineup of Canadian and international short films up to 30 minutes
long. This global showcase offers audiences a window into diverse cultures and perspectives from around the world. Awards for Best Canadian Film and Best International Film will be presented at the end of the program.
