Join Irina & Boris Konovalov for their Piano Recital on Saturday, March 9 at 6:00PM at Muttart Hall, Alberta College Campus, 10050 MacDonald Drive NW.

Born in Russia, Irina Konovalov received her Masters and Doctoral Degree at the Novosibirsk Conservatory of Music. She joined the piano faculty in 1981 and was a member there for ten years. While in Russia, Irina performed a number of solo recitals, chamber concerts, and was a soloist with the Novosibirsk and Kemerovo Symphony Orchestras. During this time she wrote several music research papers about piano technique and the Russian piano repertoire. Since coming to Canada in 1998, Irina has been on the faculty of Alberta College Conservatory of Music. Many of her students, which include international students from Hong Kong and China, have received awards in Fall and Kiwanis Festivals and now work as piano teachers themselves. 

One of the most prominent pianists of his generation, Dr. Boris Konovalov has received his education from Novosibirsk Glinka Conservatory, MD under Prof. S. Gindis, and then Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, DMA under Prof. Vera Gornostaeva, who was a student of legendary H. Neuhaus – the teacher of Gilels and Richter. At the age 11 Boris won his First prize at the All-Siberia piano competition. At the age 21 he won First prize at All-Russia piano competition in Kazan, 1977. Since then, Dr. Konovalov had numerous tours across the globe, including Israel, Germany, England, Austria, USA, China, South Korea, Bulgaria, Mexico, Japan, and Canada.

Solo and Duo music by: Schumann, Brahms, Beethoven and Liszt.
